Bio

Aliefka was born in Curaçao and grew up in several countries as the daughter of a diplomat. Her international background and previous career as a lawyer and legal adviser are important sources of inspiration for her work. She is drawn to characters who move between different worlds and are searching for a sense of belonging.

As a writer and creative producer, she has worked on a wide range of Dutch films and series, from development and writers’ rooms to film production and financing. Most recently, she produced the feature film KAIN alongside Mildred Roethof, and also co-wrote the screenplay. The film is inspired by an autistic friend of Aliefka’s, who plays himself in the film. She has also contributed to the writers’ rooms for the series De Fckulteit* (Videoland), Tot de dood ons scheidt(Netflix) and Omerta (Streamz).

Her interests span a broad range of genres: she writes comedy, including the feature film Marokkaanse Bruiloft, as well as drama, such as her Telefilm En we vliegen door de dagen. In every project she works on, Aliefka seeks a perspective that says something about the society we live in — whether through a mainstream genre or arthouse cinema.

Alongside her own projects, Aliefka is regularly brought on board to help develop and restructure films and series, or to bring together talent for them. She also enjoys sharing her knowledge with other writers through dramaturgy and script coaching.

Aliefka has previously written two novels, academic articles and opinion pieces. She lives and works in Amsterdam.
